2026 Nucleus Colony 5 Frame Bees

*We use the Kona Italian Queens from Hawaii for our Nucs.  The Italian or Ligustica honey bee is the most popular in the world. These production-proven queens are known for good temperament, hygienic behavior, mite tolerance, and resistance to diseases. They produce large frames of brood in a tight pattern.

​Kona Italian queens will expand their brood patterns when stimulated and reduce brood rearing after the honey flow.  They are excellent honey producers and less likely to swarm.
 

There are many influences that can affect the success of a growing honeybee colony, and your success looks good on us!

For that reason, with every purchase, we offer mentorship to help guide you along your honeybee journey for the first year.

While we highly recommend  attending a Honeybee Course, we know that nothing beats having someone to lean on, when in need.  We have in the past, and we would like to pass that along.

There is so much to learn in such a short space of time, and so much of it is usually done on one's own. Partnering up with us can speed up the learning process and help beginners learn how to handle bees, which is one of the hardest things to do.  This is a one year commitment from us, to ensure you get off on the right foot, and have a positive Honeybee Experience.

There are many places to purchase bees, however, it is a buyer-beware market. Even when purchasing from a reputable source it is important to ask questions and understand what to look for.

Ensure you have safety equipment at hand when transporting your bees.  Accidents happen and having gear on hand can help in a pinch. 

Have your equipment ready to go in your apiary.  These bees will need to be moved into a full brood box immediately.  Plan to pick them up and install them that day.

New and growing colonies need to be fed.  They will need this in order to quickly drawn out comb on new frames, while storing for the upcoming fall.  Yes, the summer goes by quickly!

DO NOT expect a honey yield from first year colonies.

All our bees are sold within Nova Scotia and we do not export.  If the purchaser wishes to take them outside of Nova Scotia, the purchaser must arrange importation permits from the destination province.

Our bees will have a Inspection Certificate from the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture.  You must have a BK# (Beekeeper Registration Number) issued to you by the NSDA BEFORE picking up the bees.

All Nucs must be paid in FULL before they will be permitted to leave their parent apiary.  Any Nucleus colonies not fully paid for, at the date of Pick Up, will be sold to the next person on the list.

Although we are limiting our number of Nucleus Colonies, there is a chance we may not have enough to fulfill all orders.  We do not ask for a deposit, for this reason. It's first come, first serve.  First on the List is guaranteed the First Nucleus Colony produced.

We will notify you in April 2025 if you will not be able to get a Nucleus Colony from us.  We are resrving only 40 Nucleus Colonies for sale.  Act fast, as they will sell out.
